A Blog for moth recorders in Bucks, Berks and Oxon
Wonderful! I am looking forward v much to my first hawk this year. I remember some years ago, my older son pointed out a Lime Hawk sitting on a wall on Walton Street in Oxford. Are they slightly more day-active than other hawks? All best M
I don't think they're active by day but maybe they are less fussy about where they perch until nightfall! It is probably just co-incidence that they get spotted. I've seen the odd record of Poplar and Eyed Hawk-moths already this year but Lime Hawks are being reported quite regularly so could appear in your trap any time now.
