Record garden first quarter

I've had better overall numbers of moths, but so far as species are concerned the garden actinic trap has broken all records so far this year.  As of 31st March the list of adults (so not including larvae or leaf-mines) had reached 52, comprising 37 macros and 15 micros.  The macro-moth count is 11 higher than I've ever had here before, suggesting that there have been rather a lot of early appearances this year.  On 30th March I had Brindled Pug, Oak-tree Pug, Brimstone Moth and Nut-tree Tussock while last night's much poorer collection still managed to add Streamer.

A couple of MV traps run in Bernwood Forest last night didn't break any records, bringing in 233 moths of 24 species, but amongst them were an early Great Prominent (my first March record) as well as three Lunar Marbled Browns.
