Moths are flying again

After nearly a fortnight of very cold nights and zero moths in my garden, last night stayed at a balmy 7 degrees and 16 moths arrived in the trap - 10 December Moths, singles of Red-green Carpet, Winter Moth and Dark Chestnut, and 3 Epiphyas postvittana.

  1. Similar result here in Westcott, Bucks last night too: E.postvittana (1), December Moth (2), Winter Moth (7) & Feathered Thorn (2) along with quite a few yellow dung flies. The weather looks promising for the next few nights as well.

  2. Similar story here in Maidenhead

    4 December Moths
    6 Light Brown Apple Moths
    2 Red-Green Carpets
    1 Silver Y
    1 Large Yellow Underwing

  3. My Maidenhead trap, after being on for 15 hours, only managed:
    2 December
    1 Lesser Yellow Underwing
    1 Red-line Quaker
