Woodland Moths

Considering how poor things have been, two MV traps run in local woodland here in Bucks last night produced a reasonable collection of species in the usual three hours although in most cases the counts were still rather low:  Frosted Green (4), Streamer (1), Brindled Pug (3), Oak-tree Pug (2), Seraphim (1), Early Tooth-striped (13), Brimstone Moth (1), Purple Thorn (1), Scalloped Hazel (2), Brindled Beauty (2), Waved Umber (1), Chocolate-tip (1), Pebble Prominent (3), Lesser Swallow Prominent (2), Swallow Prominent (9), Lunar Marbled Brown (3), Pale Tussock (1), Lead-coloured Drab (1), Common Quaker (5), Clouded Drab (11), Twin-spotted Quaker (1), Hebrew Character (3), Satellite (1) & Nut-tree Tussock (9).  The only micros were Dyseriocrania subpurpurella (2).  Back home at Westcott there has been little improvement yet for the garden actinic trap which last night managed 19 moths, all of which were Orthosia species apart from singletons of Brimstone Moth, Muslin Moth & Herald.
