Mortal coil

Could this, found by Penny in a failed 'eco' lightbulb - one of those expensive twirly ones - be Crambus perlella? Or Elachista argentella? Or is it something else, maybe faded beyond recognition? Help much appreciated. I'm afraid that I don't know when it died. Martin Wainwright, Thrupp, Oxon

  1. Shape and form are nothing like an Elachista and size would be very different to C.perlella. It does look perlella like, but I wouldn't be sure from the picture. If it is very faded you might have to resort to a genitalia examination.

  2. It has a nose cone, so is a Crambid. I'm happy to chop it if you want, let me know and I'll give you my address.
