A Blog for moth recorders in Bucks, Berks and Oxon
Wonderful - Dave, you have solved a puzzle which has niggled at the back of my mind for a year. Last summer, Penny and I paid our first trip to Bernwood and were duly amazed and awed by Purple Emperors and White Admirals (having just moved from Leeds). But we also met an enthusiast from Birmingham who showed us an image on his digital camera of a vividly coloured moth which he said was flying in some numbers in the meadows. By the time we got there, no such moths were to be seen, and because of the lack of scale (though who am I to complain of that..?) we were looking for a larger moth. This was clearly what he had seen. Thanks very much and we hope to get over that way soon.
